Hi, I’m Priscilla!
As a young, growing family facing job loss in 2013, with a toddler and a newborn baby, I wanted to learn how to grow food to supplement our rising grocery bill, but I had no experience. So, I called on my mom to help me start my first garden as cheap as possible. I remember her stewarding a small garden from time to time when I was growing up. We started one with blocks, soil, seeds, and a few starters that she helped me invest in. And that’s how I started!
Before I was a homesteading, homeschooling mom I was a professional musician and music teacher. I carried over my teaching experience into homeschooling my children, but I learned it was much different teaching your own children. And, when I started homesteading, I started with NO experience. It was something I never imagined doing. I had to do a lot of researching and learning each season. So, I know how hard it is to start homeschooling and homesteading with no experience!
After 2020
After the events of 2020, we saw the vital need to learn to grow, raise, and store real God-given food in abundance, and continue homeschooling all of our children. We felt God had a new call and season for us. So in 2021, we left everything behind, and moved from northwest Indiana to southern Georgia. And we just got started!
How we can help you
Now, I’ve homeschooled for 11 years and have 6 children of homeschool age with 1 more in waiting. And, we established our homestead in 2021 with lots of research and no experience. We built up gardens and livestock and had a small farmstead business within 2 years. We stewarded a small farmstead by selling fresh eggs and healthy chickens to many happy customers!
Also, we started taking and completing several homesteading courses, and we continue our education every year. And, I’m always looking for ways to make things more time efficient by making them simpler to do and sustainable. When things are simpler, they are more sustainable in our already full lives.
But, an unexpected turn of events landed us in a rental home in an HOA neighborhood while we search for land. We proved to ourselves that we could still homestead even with all the restrictions. We knew if we could do it, others could do it too! So, we started this blog and our newsletter to equip modern families to live abundantly in their homesteads and homeschools no matter where they live and with no overwhelm or burn out. NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY! We offer simple and affordable solutions, free printables, resources, and encouragement for your Christ-centered beginner homesteading, homeschooling journey.
Why print out free homesteading encouragement scripture art?
We all need encouragement!
I do not think there is a day that goes by that I don’t need encouragement. As a mom of 9 that is trying to homestead and homeschool for God’s glory, I definitely have my moments. We do not have to have that large of a family or be doing all of this to need encouragement though. I believe the Bible tells us to “encourage one another, and build each other up” (1 Thessalonians 5:11) because God knows that every single human benefits from and needs encouragement no matter what we do.
Also, I know that I am a visual person and learner, so when I have visual reminders, I thrive more. In past homes, I would put up scripture everywhere! And, that would include some actual wall art, some printable art, and some handwritten notes and reminders to myself. It is so much easier to remember and keep things in mind when you can constantly see them.
Scripture art is beautiful.
Scripture art is beautiful. Simply put. The main reason I believe it is beautiful is because scripture art, however the form, visibly puts the Word of God in our homes. Put it in a frame of your choice for the style of your home and you not only have beauty in words, but you have beautiful decor for your home.
Scripture art fills our home with the Word of God.
I kind of touched on this above, but the Bible tells us that all scripture is “God-breathed” and “inspired” by God. The scriptures are God’s words to us! So, any time we are adding scripture art (in any form) into our homes, we are filling our homes with the Word of God. And, that’s powerful! The Word of God can transform a person and a place. I desire God’s presence and Word to be the atmosphere of my home.
Why did we choose this scripture for the free printable scripture art?
Well, we chose this scripture for homesteading encouragement scripture art because it is very direct. “Those who work their land, will have abundant food…” (Proverbs 12:11). It is a simple principle that makes sense, but it reminds us why we homestead. One of the most important reasons most people homestead is to have abundant food for their household no matter what the future holds. To be more self-sufficient (or we like to say sufficient in God) and less reliant on the store.
So, this scripture reminds us that if we are just faithful to work our land that we will have abundant food. We will see the fruit of our labor and have a harvest. It motivates us to keep stewarding our land the way God created us to care for it.
Now, this is a principle, not a promise. We cannot tend a small raised garden bed and expect an abundance of food that feeds our family year round. We all also know that there are many variables to how well our gardens grow. However, the amount of land you work is tied to the amount of abundance you can harvest. There is a theological difference between promises and principles that we must understand when reading and studying the Bible.
Promise Vs. Principle
A promise in the Bible is something that God actually said that He was going to do or how something would turn out. We see in scripture that all God’s promises happened just as He said. The only ones we are waiting on are those regarding our futures in heaven, the rid of evil, and being with God forever.
A principle, on the other hand, is guidance or a concept that often results in a general way. It can also be thought as a general truth, but it does not necessarily mean a certain outcome will absolutely occur. For instance, if you plant a seed and care for it, it will grow.
This is a principle. It can be seen as guidance, or a concept, that if you plant the seed and care for it, the general outcome will be that it will grow. However, it is not a promise. Because we know, as homesteaders, there are many variables to sprouting seeds. And, the outcome is not promised to be a plant full of fruit; it may only live and never fruit. So, the result is not guaranteed when it comes to a principle.
Therefore, this same reasoning is what makes Proverbs 12:11 a principle and not a promise. God did not say it as an actual statement of something that is guaranteed to happen. This was a Proverb written by Solomon as a guidance or concept.
